A LINE OF BELLS

Lohagarh Fort, Bharatpur, Rajasthan India

CREATIVE COMPOSITION?

Bharatpur offers you a number of attractions including the Lohagarh Fort, Keoladeo Park, Sunflower fields, Rajasthani hand crafts and so on! Bharatpur is mainly located near the border between UP and Rajasthan. The Lohagarh Fort is one of the most mentionable sites that bring forward the history of Ancient Indian Dynasties. The name is derived from the Huge Door made of CAST IRON (Loha - in hindi). Built by Maharaja Suraj Mal, this fort is entirely surrounded by lake and has 4 doors meant for entrance of 4 categories of people. Only the 2 gates are accessible now unfortunately.

Of the two gates in the fort, the one in the north is known as Ashtdhaatu (eight metalled) gate while the one facing the south is called Chowburja (four-pillared) gate.

To enjoy the entire fort, make sure to reach as early as 10 AM (it opens at that time, not before).

ABOUT THE BELLS:

The bells being located on the top floor near the bathing hall and the temple, maintained by the Queens was meant for something unique!

They were rang to let the Rani Maa (Queen) know that the king has arrived. The curtains used to fall down as soon as the King entered the place and the bells being aligned at a straight line, Each rope was fixed with each straight beam and all the bells attached with the beam would sound with one pull of the rope! Interesting? Go catch the other Scenes of Bharatpur Lohagarh Fort and get the taste of medieval Indian Art and sculptures...
